The
History of Kirchner's Dance Studio
The
original studio was founded in 1958 by my parents, Juanita and
Ray Kirchner. They were both professional dancers having been
in many broadway shows and productions. During the early years,
my mom taught most of the classes and my dad continued his dance
career on broadway and television. When dad gave up his professional
career, he joined my mom at the studio. The first location was
at 198 Broad Avenue in Palisades Park , New Jersey. In 1982
they moved to the current location at 825 Route #5 in Ridgefield,
New Jersey. Both were amazing dancers and their talent and creativity
touched so many students over the years.
I grew up in a world of dance. In addition to studying with
my parents, I attended the Joffery School of Dance and Ballet
Arts in New York. When given the first opportunity to teach
my own class, I fell absolutely in love with it. Dancing has
always been and always will be one of the most important things
in my life.
The studio flourished and now a third generation is stepping
up. My daughters Cassie and Samantha have been taking over some
classes and helping out with instruction and adding fresh choreography.
They are both extremely talented dancers and have much to offer
to the studio. My son Adam also helps out by handling the music
and teaching saxophone. In 2004 Clyde Roberts joined the team.
He is an extremely talented guitar player and vocalist and is
currently teaching private lessons in both.
Both of my parents have passed on, yet their legacy remains.
I continue to do what my parents started and am thoroughly enjoying
every minute of it. I feel blessed to be able to say that I
do what I love and love what I do.
